Meet Julie
Julie Colombino-Billingham, former aid worker and native of Florida, is the founder of Deux Mains, a global fair-trade fashion business in Haiti that uses the native wisdom of its people to create jobs. Inspired to find a better way to help disaster victims recover their livelihoods and their dignity, Colombino-Billingham flew to Haiti following the devastating earthquake of 2010 and stayed for years, falling in love with the Haitian people, their strength, and their resourcefulness.
She is the 2018 recipient of the Southern Living Beauty Awards for her work as a female entrepreneur. A finalist for the 2017 Digicel Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Haiti and the 2016 Martin Bell Scholar, she recently received her MBA from Rollins Crummer Graduate School of Business. From Loss to Legacy is her riveting memoir of her work in Haiti, and her account of the revolutionary approach to disaster aid that she developed there.
